Proud to be in
Reefton

Welcome to

A small town with a big heart! That is how you would describe Reefton.

Broadway, with its collection of Victorian verandah-fronted shops and hotels painted in heritage colours, makes you feel like you have stepped back in time.

Reefton is quite unique and is known as the town of light, being the first place in the southern hemisphere to be lit up with electricity. It still has plenty of historic buildings, including the old courthouse that on occasion runs a mock court with many stories to tell. The Oddfellow's hall, School of mines, and the iconic Miner's Cottage are all sitting proud and well-loved.

The walking/biking tracks are easily accessible, taking you on some amazing walkways where you will often see some old mining relics left scattered around the tracks, which are part of the history that represents the backbone of an industry that created our lovely little town, making it what it is today.

Fishing is a popular pastime for the locals and people visiting Reefton, with some of the best fishing rivers in the country all a short drive away.

In a nutshell, Reefton has plenty of interesting things to see and do. The people are friendly and welcome newcomers that are wanting to make this unique little town their new home.
