Covid-19 Pandemic Alert Plan Level 2

Wednesday, 13 May 2020

The government has announced that from Thursday 14th May New Zealand will move down to Alert Level 2 of the Covid-19 Pandemic Alert Plan. Whilst this reinstates most of our freedoms, there are still guidelines and procedures which must be followed.

Our doors will re-open to the public.

From Thursday 14th May most of our staff will return to work in all of our branches across provincial New Zealand. Following the health and safety guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health, contact tracing procedures will be in place, social distancing of no less than 1 metre will still apply, and hand sanitiser will be available for use upon entry and exit of the building. We are extremely excited to welcome clients back onto our premises and conduct face-to-face meetings, negotiations, and auctions, safely.

What is Property Brokers doing to keep our people, clients and communities safe during Alert Level 2?

We're following the advice from the Ministry of Health as well as the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand. For more information on COVID-19, please refer to the Ministry of Health website.

We have the following procedures in place to give buyers and sellers as much confidence as possible in the current climate:

Level 2 restrictions

We are responsibly adhering to the Ministry of Health guidelines and have planned how to continue to support our clients with exceptional real estate service and solutions.

Where do I go to get current updates?

We're updating our website regularly and will be sending email updates to our customers as appropriate. We encourage customers to contact their salesperson, property manager or local branch should they have any concerns or questions that they need to discuss. For up to date COVID-19 updates, please refer to the Ministry of Health's website health.govt.nz

How are open homes being managed now?

Open homes and private viewings may take place during Level 2, providing contact tracing systems are in place and viewings can occur safely. Physical distancing (1 meter minimum between different bubbles), must be maintained at all times, hands must be sanitised when entering and exiting the property, good hygiene practices followed, and the open home/viewing remains contactless.

The number of people in the property at one time must be limited to no more than 10 to ensure physical distancing (1 meter minimum between different bubbles). Staggered access may be used to adhere to this rule if necessary.

Private viewings and online tours are still available to those who do not feel comfortable physically entering the property with others.

Auctions

In-person auctions may take place during Alert Level 2 in accordance with Government and Ministry of Health guidelines regarding public gatherings. Contact tracing procedures will be in place and physical distancing of at least 1 meter must be adhered to. In all cases, no more than 100 people may attend an auction.

Settlements

Settlements and moving house can occur, including between regions.

Bridging Finance

Vendors and purchasers should talk to their financial services provider or bank in the first instance.

Conditional contracts

Sale and Purchase agreements can now be confirmed in person during Alert Level 2 provided it can be done so safely by applying physical distancing, sanitising hands and is contactless.

Pre-settlement inspections

Pre-settlement inspections can take place with the same procedures and guidelines in place for open homes and viewings. If the property is tenanted, the tenant’s approval is required.

Anti Money Laundering

We believe there will be few cases where our ability to fulfil our obligations under the Anti Money Laundering and Countering Funding of Terrorism Act will be impacted by Level 2 restrictions. Should this occur, however, our salesperson or AML Compliance Officer will work with you to identify a workable solution
