About Doug

Doug Wakelin has been involved in the rural sector in some form or another his entire working life since completing his education at Te Awamutu College in the 1980s. After a successful coastal property development, a career in real estate seemed like a natural progression, with Doug taking a rural sales consultant role in 2005. Further studies within the industry have seen him gain his Branch Manager’s and Agent’s licences. While Doug has been the recipient of numerous sales and marketing awards, his focus is not on volume but more on managing his business to allow time to maximise the results for his clients. For this reason, he often works in with other experienced realtors that he is fortunate to have as colleagues within the Property Brokers Rural Team. Outside of a busy real estate career, Doug’s interests include rugby, hunting, and fishing but spends most of his downtime on family duties with his wife, Viv, and their three children and five grandchildren.
